Milan and Roma are said to be competing for the young Norwich defender

AC Milan and AS Roma are reportedly involved in a competition in the transfer market to try to sign Norwich City’s young defender Ben Godfrey.

The competition from Milan and Rome this season looks like it will not only stop with the battle for a position in the Serie A standings, but also in the transfer market. The latest news released by Calciomercato.com states that the two Italian clubs are exploring the opportunity to bring in the 22-year-old Norwich defender, Ben Godfrey.

Godfrey, who is also considered an attractive talent in the Premier League, visited a trusted evodomino agent, actually valued by his club for Rp. 818 billion. However, further news stated that the player would likely be redeemed for a transfer fee of only IDR 458 billion, a value which can still be considered reasonable.

Even though he is still quite young, Godfrey can be said to have become a figure that The Canaries can rely on, as evidenced by the 26 chances he has played this season. The opportunity for the player to leave the summer is quite large because Norwich itself is already on the verge of relegation so it is possible to let go of some of their important players.

That situation is probably what both Milan and Roma are trying to exploit to land the Englishman. However, of course if it is possible for the two Italian clubs to want to get the cheapest price they can get, considering that Norwich itself will almost certainly go down to the lower division.

If Godfrey really wants to be able to continue playing in the top major competitions, moving to Serie A could be an interesting option. In Milan, the player will certainly get the opportunity to play because the focus of the Rossoneri lately is on bringing in and developing many young talents rather than bringing in experienced players.

Meanwhile Roma itself already has ties with the Premier League this season by bringing in Chris Smalling from Manchester United and Henrikh Mkhitaryan who previously played for Arsenal. The experience of these two players might be used as a tool to persuade Godfrey to choose the Giallorossi instead of going to the Rossoneri this summer.
